Care Assistant Transitioning to Education
Location: Cheltenham, GL51
Hours: Full-time and Part-time roles available, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £89 per day
Contract: Temporary with the potential to go permanent

Axcis is collaborating with a specialist SEND school in Cheltenham to recruit dedicated Support Workers to assist students for the remainder of the academic year. The role involves both one-to-one classroom support and general class assistance for learners with complex needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and those requiring personal care.
This highly regarded school is a cornerstone of the local community, supported by the local authority, and offers exceptional resources, including a hydrotherapy pool, sensory garden, and access to therapies such as music, art, massage, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one and classroom-based support to students with SEND needs.
• Assist students requiring personal care in a respectful and compassionate manner.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging environment tailored to each student’s individual needs.
• Adapt to various classroom settings and respond effectively to dynamic needs as they arise.
About You:
We are looking for individuals who are:
• Experienced in working with individuals with learning disabilities or from a care background.
• Compassionate, resilient, and committed to supporting students with diverse and complex needs.
• Reliable, hardworking, and adaptable, with a positive attitude toward learning and development.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• A background in care or SEND support is desirable but not essential—training can be provided.
• A genuine passion for working with children and young adults.
• Enhanced DBS check (required before starting the role).
