My client is a specialist in the passive fire proteciton sector, and have been a real success story over the past 5 years showing significant growth across the business.
Due to some recent contract wins, they are looking to employ a commercial manager to oversee the commercial department for the orgnaisation
Direct reports: Senior Estimator, Estimators, Estimating Assistant
Package: £80-£100k + bonus + Car + Private Medical
Owns the commercial performance of the division across the full project lifecycle, winning the right work at the right margin, then protecting that margin through delivery.
Single point of accountability for divisional commercial governance.
Pre-contract / Winning Work
Bid strategy and qualification - owns the bid/no-bid call.
Pricing strategy and margin policy across sectors (residential, healthcare, hotels, commercial).
Tender QA - sign-off on all quotes above an agreed value before they leave the building.
Subcontract and supply chain pricing - building competitive supply chain commercial relationships.
Tender risk review - commercial risk identification, working with technical and strategic management.
Commercial narrative in bid responses.
Pricing intelligence — keeping us calibrated to market rates and competitor positioning.
Post-contract / Existing Projects
Monthly CVR review and sign-off across all live projects with Ops.
Margin protection
Variation management oversight - making sure PMs price and submit changes properly and on time.
Payment application QA
Subcontractor commercial management - final accounts, disputes, retention release.
Final account discipline - closing projects out cleanly.
Commercial reporting - monthly divisional commercial pack
People & Capability
Line manages estimating function via Senior Estimator
Builds commercial capability across PMs - coaching, training, governance
Owns commercial governance documents: margin policy, CVR template, pricing strategy, change control
