Education Support Roles – Monmouthshire
Are you passionate about working with children and young people and looking for a role that offers something different from a traditional classroom?
We are recruiting for a range of exciting education support opportunities across Monmouthshire, including mainstream schools, specialist settings, outdoor education, Alternative Provision (AP) and Pupil Referral Units (PRUs).
These roles are ideal for Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Sports Coaches, Youth Workers, Graduates and anyone with experience supporting children and young people who wants to build a career within education.
You could be supporting pupils in a classroom, taking learning outdoors, delivering activities, supporting vocational programmes or helping young people re-engage with education through alternative provision.
The settings:

• Specialist and SEND settings
• Outdoor education environments
• Alternative Provision (AP)
• Pupil Referral Units (PRUs)
• Behavioural and SEMH settings
• Vocational and activity-based education programmes
Your role could involve:
• Supporting pupils with learning and engagement
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting children and young people with additional learning, behavioural or social needs
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships
• Using sport, outdoor activities and practical learning to engage pupils
• Supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream education
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils manage challenges
• Working alongside teachers, instructors and experienced education professionals
• Helping create safe, structured and inclusive learning environments
• Supporting pupils to achieve their individual educational and personal goals
Who we’re looking for:
• Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants
• Sports Coaches and Sports Graduates
• Graduates interested in education, psychology, youth work or SEND
• Youth Workers and Outdoor Activity Instructors
• Individuals with experience in care, mentoring, coaching or community settings
• People who are patient, adaptable and passionate about helping young people
• Previous experience within education, AP, PRUs or specialist settings is desirable but not essential for all roles
EWC Registration – Wales
As these opportunities are based in Wales, candidates undertaking relevant education support roles must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
For school-based learning support roles, this will generally mean registration as a School Learning Support Worker. This includes roles such as Teaching/Classroom Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Special/Additional Needs Assistant and Learning Coach.
If you are not currently registered with the EWC, we can provide guidance on the registration process and help you understand which registration category is appropriate for the role you are applying for.
