Want to get your foot in the door of education?

You don't need a teaching qualification or years of school experience to become a Learning Support Assistant. We're looking for caring, reliable and resilient people with experience supporting young people or caring for others who are keen to build a career in education.

This is a flexible supply role, covering for permanent school staff when they are absent. However, it can also be a fantastic way to get your foot in the door of local schools, build experience on your CV and work towards securing a longer-term position in education.

Could this be you?

This role could be particularly well suited to:

• Career changers looking to move into education
• Students or graduates wanting to gain relevant experience
• Retired or semi-retired people looking for rewarding, flexible work
• People returning to work after a career break
• Those with childcare or caring experience who want to use their transferable skills
• Anyone considering a career in teaching, SEND, pastoral support or education

You don't need formal qualifications or previous experience as a TA. However, you will need some experience of supporting or caring for children, young people or vulnerable people. This could come through previous employment, volunteering or personal caring experience - we're interested in the skills you've developed, not just your job title.

What will you be doing?

Depending on the school and the pupils you're supporting, you could be:

• Supporting pupils in lessons and helping them access their learning
• Working 1:1 or with small groups
• Supporting children and young people with SEND
• Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
• Providing pastoral, emotional and behavioural support
• Working alongside teachers and experienced support staff
• Covering a range of schools and gaining experience of different settings

We'll help you build your experience. We understand that you may be new to education, which is why we offer lots of free training to help you develop your knowledge and confidence.

You'll also have the opportunity to experience different schools and age groups, allowing you to build a strong CV and discover where your skills are best suited.

Many of our flexible staff go on to secure longer-term and permanent positions after building relationships with schools and gaining experience through supply work.

If you're caring, dependable and passionate about supporting young people and you're looking for a way to get started in education without committing to a permanent role straight away, then we'd love to hear from you.
