The Role
As the Food Technician, you will work closely with the Food Technology teacher to ensure practical lessons are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients and equipment, maintaining food preparation areas and supporting pupils during practical activities, helping to create an enjoyable and inclusive learning experience.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, has excellent organisational skills and understands the importance of creating a safe, well-prepared learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for practical Food Technology lessons.
Ensure kitchens and food preparation areas are clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Maintain stock levels and order food, equipment and consumables as required.
Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
Support teachers and pupils during practical lessons where appropriate.
Ensure all food hygiene and health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Assist with displays and preparation for curriculum projects and school events.
Safely store food and equipment and manage waste appropriately.
Contribute to creating an engaging, organised and inclusive learning environment.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
Experience working within a school, catering, hospitality, food production or commercial kitchen environment.
A good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety procedures.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
The ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
A positive, flexible and proactive attitude.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff.
Patience, empathy and an understanding of supporting young people with additional needs.
Confidence working within a busy educational environment.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above desirable).
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience as a Food Technician.
Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
First Aid qualification.
Experience within education, care, youth work, hospitality or catering settings.
