The Role:
You will:

• Support secondary-aged students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, often linked to anxiety, trauma, ADHD, conduct disorders, and low emotional resilience.
• Work 1:1 or with small groups to help students regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and build positive relationships.
• Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches.
• Collaborate with pastoral teams, SENCOs and external agencies to implement individual behaviour and support plans.
• Create a safe, structured, and consistent environment that helps students feel understood and supported.
• Mentor students who may have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), exclusions, or difficulties with authority and routine.

About You:

• Experience working with teenagers or young adults who face mental health challenges, behavioural issues, or complex emotional needs.
• Background in mental health support, youth work, PRUs, social care, or residential care is highly valued.
• Emotionally resilient, firm but fair, and able to maintain clear boundaries.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to defuse high-stress situations while building trust with hard-to-reach students.
• Comfortable working within a trauma-informed and behaviour-focused framework.
• Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar is a bonus – but not essential (training can be provided).
