Your Role as an SEN Learning Support Assistant
Working alongside teachers, the SEN team and other support staff, your key responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
Helping children access classroom activities and a broad, engaging curriculum.
Adapting activities and resources to suit individual pupils' needs.
Supporting children's communication, confidence, independence and social development.
Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate their emotions where required.
Monitoring progress and sharing observations with teachers and other members of the SEN team.
Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued.
Above all, you'll be a consistent and positive presence for the children you support.
Who We're Looking For
To succeed as an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you'll need to be patient, resilient and genuinely motivated by helping children achieve.
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is highly desirable. Experience gained within a school, nursery, specialist provision, youth work, care or another child-focused setting may all be relevant.
We're particularly interested in people who can build strong relationships with children while maintaining clear boundaries and providing consistent support.
