The Role – SEN Learning Support Assistant
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant in Slough, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide tailored support to pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
Key responsibilities of the SEN Learning Support Assistant include:


Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN


Supporting students with ASD, communication needs, and complex learning difficulties


Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities


Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies


Supporting pupils with personal care where required


Encouraging independence, confidence, and social interaction


Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and SEN professionals


Helping create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment


Adapting learning resources to meet individual student needs


Experience, Skills & Qualifications
To be successful in this SEN Learning Support Assistant role in Slough, candidates should ideally have:


Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN


Experience supporting ASD, MLD, SLD, SEMH, or complex needs


A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach


Strong communication and teamwork skills


The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff


A proactive and flexible attitude


Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, Health & Social Care, Psychology, Education Studies, or similar are desirable but not essential


Experience in schools, care settings, youth work, or support work is highly beneficial
