Job Title: SEND Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth, London
Pay: Paid to scale
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm
We are searching for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Primary Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive educational setting in Wandsworth, London. This role is essential to support children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) including autism, ADHD, complex needs, behavioural difficulties, and dyslexia.
As a Teaching Assistant in our school, you will be expected to work closely with the primary teacher to create an environment that meets the diverse needs of each child. You will engage with pupils in a patient and understanding manner, implementing individualized learning plans, and ensuring that each child feels valued.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning and delivering educational activities tailored to pupils with SEND.
• Support the primary teacher in the management and preparation of the classroom.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to children, focusing on specific educational needs or behavioural strategies.
• Monitor and record pupils’ progress, adapting approaches to accommodate individual learning styles and requirements.
• Collaborate with other professionals such as SENCO, therapists, and external agencies to ensure consistent support.
• Promote the well-being and social inclusion of all pupils, helping them develop confidence in their abilities.
• Assist with the development of social skills and behaviours through positive reinforcement.
Qualifications:
• Experience supporting children with SEND within a primary educational setting.
• Strong understanding of SEN strategies and approaches.
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
