We are looking for a caring and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant for a permanent role in a supportive school situated in the heart of Bolton, Lancashire. This rewarding position demands a candidate who is empathetic, patient, and enthusiastic about working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with ASD, fostering their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to adapt lesson plans and materials to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
- Support the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioural support plans.
- Utilise effective strategies to manage challenging behaviors in a positive and supportive manner.
- Aid students in the development of their communication skills, using various tools and techniques, including visual aids or assistive technology.
- Assist with the daily routine, including transitions between activities and support during unstructured times such as lunch and play.
- Work closely with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, as appropriate.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
- Participate in training and development sessions to enhance skills and understanding of ASD.
- Uphold the school's policies and ethos at all times.
Requirements:
- A recognized Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Solid experience working with children diagnosed with ASD in an educational setting.
- An awareness of the challenges faced by students with additional needs and a commitment to inclusive education.
- A sound understanding of child development and various educational strategies tailored to special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, resilience, and a compassionate nature.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
