Sous Chef – Hotel Restaurant
Location: Chorley
Salary: From £30,000 per year (depending on experience)
We’re working with a well-established hotel that’s looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join their kitchen team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated chef who enjoys working with fresh food, thrives in a busy environment, and takes pride in producing consistently high standards.
You’ll support the Head Chef and Junior Sous with the daily running of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service, effective organisation, and a positive team atmosphere. The role would suit someone confident in leading by example and supporting the development of junior chefs.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen
• Lead the team in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring a smooth and efficient service
• Train and support junior chefs with prep, cooking, and plating
• Maintain stock control, ordering, and rotation systems
• Ensure food is prepared and presented to a high standard
• Adhere to food hygiene and safety regulations at all times
• Work closely with the management team on budgets, waste control, and kitchen efficiency
• Assist with menu planning and seasonal updates
About You
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sous Chef in a hotel or similar fresh food environment
• Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene certificate
• Organised and reliable with strong attention to detail
• Able to work calmly under pressure
• Supportive team player with a hands-on approach
• Genuine passion for good food and great hospitality
