Job Title: Special Needs Support (SEND School)
Location: Rochdale, Lancashire
Working Hours: Full Time, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday
Salary: £90 per day (PAYE)
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Support Assistant for a full-time position in a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school located in Rochdale, Lancashire. This role is ideal for someone who has a genuine interest in supporting children with various special needs, is skilled in implementing effective behavior strategies, and possesses the resilience and patience required to nurture a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with a range of special educational needs including physical, sensory, social, emotional, communication, and learning disabilities.
- Implement tailored behavior management strategies to encourage positive interactions and promote an inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to each child’s unique needs.
- Assist with the personal care of students as needed, ensuring dignity and respect while promoting independence.
- Monitor and record students' progress, and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
- Be flexible and adaptable in your approach, and be prepared to manage diverse challenges as they arise within the school setting.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating patience, enthusiasm, and a caring nature at all times.
- Participate in relevant meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in the field of SEND.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 12 months of direct experience working in SEND schools or SEND residential settings is essential.
- A resilient and patient individual with extensive experience supporting multiple special needs.
- Proficiency in employing a variety of behavior management techniques suitable for children with SEND.
- An active DBS registered on the update service, or willing to acquire one.
- UK-based experience in a similar role.
- Qualifications relevant to supporting children with special educational needs (NVQ, CACHE, BTEC, Degree in a related field) are desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
