**Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Learning Mentor, SEMH)**

**Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester**

**Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent**

**Job Overview:**
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant school community in Bolton, Greater Manchester. The ideal candidate will function as a Learning Mentor with a focus on supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful applicant will be instrumental in ensuring students with additional needs receive the guidance and support required for their academic and personal development.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement strategies that promote student engagement and progression.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of lesson materials, adapting resources to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Monitor and track student progress, offering one-to-one or small group mentoring sessions as appropriate.
- Encourage pupils to develop self-esteem and resilience through mentoring and positive reinforcement.
- Assist with the development of social skills and coping strategies for students facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents, acting as a role model for pupils.
- Assist with the management of classroom behavior, utilizing de-escalation techniques and adhering to school policies.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance understanding of SEMH best practices.
- Support the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the welfare of all students.

**Requirements:**

- NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or a related field.
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEMH context or similar setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students who have diverse needs.
- A genuine passion for education and the well-being of children.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with an understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs.
- A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo checks.
