SEMH Teaching Assistants – Salford
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full-time, ongoing (with potential for permanent placement)
Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
Pay Rate: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
Axcis Education is seeking compassionate, reliable, and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in Salford from January 2026. The school supports students with an EHCP that identifies SEMH as their main need.

The main duties of this role will involve:
• Providing support around emotional regulation
• Supporting pupils with learning in the classroom
• Delivering 1:1 and small group support, following personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
• Using interventions such as Boxhall profiles and Zones of regulation
• Assisting the class teacher in creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment.
• Monitoring, recording, and reporting on pupils’ progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
• Be a safe adult- ensuring emotional needs are met
• Building strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
• Helping implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Supporting pupils during break and lunch duties.
• Ensuring safeguarding, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs
• A good sense of humour & energetic
• A proactive approach and ability to work within a team.
• Good communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
