We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Widnes (WA8), starting in late September 2026.

Your Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting the class teacher with engaging and effective lessons
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access their learning
• Preparing classroom resources and learning materials
• Supporting pupils across core subjects including English, Maths and Science
• Encouraging confidence, independence and positive social development
• Promoting a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment
• Supporting pupils with their behaviour, engagement and learning
•Monitoring progress and providing feedback to the teaching team
• Working collaboratively with school staff to support the wider needs of the class
What We're Looking For
We'd love to hear from candidates who have a genuine interest in working with children and are keen to build experience within a primary school setting.
You should be patient, enthusiastic and proactive, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and adapt your approach to meet different learning needs.
This role would be particularly well suited to someone considering a future career in teaching, education, SEND support or child development.
Relevant Experience
Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates who have supported children with a range of additional needs, including:
• Autism (ASD)
• ADHD
• SEMH needs
• Challenging behaviour
• Cerebral Palsy
• Complex needs, PMLD or Severe Learning Difficulties
Experience doesn't necessarily need to have been gained in a school. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including care and support work, residential or foster care, youth work, clubs and other roles involving children or young people.
Personal experience supporting a family member can also provide valuable transferable skills.
