Teaching Assistant (SEND) - Primary Schools - Wigan - Full Time - September Start
Location: Wigan
Job Type: Full-Time | Temporary (Term Time Only)
Salary: From £93 per day
Axcis Education is recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in a variety of welcoming primary schools across Wigan. We are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic individuals to support pupils with SEND on both a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.
Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, or have relevant experience supporting children with additional needs, we'd love to hear from you.
These are full-time, term-time positions starting in September. Roles are initially temporary, with temporary-to-permanent opportunities available for the right candidates.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEND.
- Support small groups of children with learning, communication and social development.
- Work alongside class teachers to deliver engaging lessons and targeted interventions.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour and build children's confidence and independence.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to support pupil progress.
Applicants should have:
- At least 6 months' experience supporting children or young people with SEND in a professional or voluntary capacity. Candidates with extensive personal experience supporting individuals with SEND are also encouraged to apply.
- A patient, caring and proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm during term time.
- The ability to travel to schools throughout the Wigan area.
- The right to work in the UK.
Please note: Overseas-trained candidates are welcome to apply. However, applicants must have a minimum of 3 months' experience working in a UK school or education setting.
