Youth Mental Health Support Worker

Axcis Education are working with an all-through specialist school supporting up to over 100 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our students may experience anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, self-harm or attachment disorders, and all hold an EHCP for SEMH. Our mission is to offer a safe, nurturing environment where each young person can learn trust, build strong relationships, and develop resilience.

The Role
We’re seeking passionate Youth Mental Health Support Workers to join our inclusive, supportive team. You’ll be working on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, providing bespoke support, guidance, and encouragement to help students grow academically and emotionally. We have both short-term and long-term roles available to suit different availability and commitments.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver 1:1 therapeutic or emotional support tailored to students’ needs
• Co-facilitate small groups that focus on social skills, emotional regulation, or wellbeing
• Work closely with teaching and therapeutic staff to implement SEMH-informed strategies
• Monitor and record pupil progress, adapt approaches as needed
• Build trusting, respectful relationships; celebrate progress and successes
• Contribute to creating a safe and inclusive environment in line with our safeguarding ethos ?

Who We’re Looking For
• Experience or strong interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs
• Excellent communication skills – both for building rapport and collaborating with colleagues
• Emotional resilience and ability to use structured, nurturing approaches when working with challenging behaviour
• Commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice
• Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Social Care, Youth Work, Counselling) or demonstrable relevant experience
