Description

Our client is seeking an experienced and qualified compliance professional to lead and oversee the compliance function for their Guernsey-based fiduciary services business. This is a strategic role, responsible for ensuring effective management of all legal and regulatory requirements in line with local laws and wider group compliance standards.

The successful candidate will act as Compliance Officer and MLCO, reporting directly to the Board and playing a key leadership role across compliance strategy, regulatory engagement, policy governance, and risk management.

This is a full-time position; however, flexible hours will be considered.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
• Acting as Money Laundering Compliance Officer and Compliance Officer for the firm.
• Developing and delivering a compliance strategy aligned with both business unit objectives and wider group compliance frameworks.
• Managing regulatory relationships and acting as the primary contact with local authorities.
• Overseeing compliance with legal and regulatory obligations through policy, procedure and control frameworks.
• Monitoring and advising on AML/CFT/CPF risk, fiduciary rules, data privacy, and related regulatory provisions.
• Conducting internal compliance reviews and maintaining the firm’s Compliance Monitoring Plan and Regulatory Universe.
• Leading periodic reporting to the Board and Committees on compliance findings, risk assessments, and regulatory developments.
• Supporting the delivery of regulatory returns, including GFSC submissions, FATCA/CRS filings and PQ portal maintenance.
• Coordinating with internal and external audit, managing risk assessments for outsourced arrangements, and maintaining compliance registers.
• Planning and delivering regulatory training across the business.
• Supporting internal projects, regulatory consultations, and compliance sign-off for client-facing materials.

The ideal candidate will have:
The successful individual will have at least five years’ compliance experience, with strong knowledge of Guernsey’s regulatory framework and a relevant compliance qualification. Experience in a leadership or management role is essential, alongside excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. A sound understanding of AML/CFT risks, fiduciary obligations and cross-border compliance practices is key, along with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and regulators with confidence and discretion.
