HR Business Partner – 12-Month FTC (Maternity Cover)
£55,000 | St Albans | Hybrid (4 days on site)

Are you an experienced HR professional with a passion for both talent acquisition and strategic HR? This 12-month maternity cover role offers a unique opportunity to make an impact in a fast-growing Sales and Marketing operation of this FMCG organisation, through a period of exciting growth and transformation.

This is a 50% Talent Acquisition / 50% HR Generalist position — ideal for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on recruitment with broader HR partnership responsibilities. With limited ER casework, you’ll have the freedom to focus on value-adding initiatives that drive business success.

The Opportunity

As the HR Business Partner, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to people managers, supporting them to deliver strong commercial and people outcomes. You’ll lead direct recruitment activity, develop talent pipelines, and ensure the business continues to attract and retain exceptional people. Alongside this, you’ll deliver core HR processes and support engagement, performance, and learning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with stakeholders to translate business goals into effective people strategies.

Lead direct recruitment across Sales and Marketing, building talent pipelines and reducing agency reliance.

Strengthen the organisation’s employer brand and LinkedIn presence.

Coach and support managers on performance, engagement, and team development.

Provide expert advice on HR policy, employment law, and best practice.

Support change management, organisational development, and learning initiatives.

Drive performance management cycles and talent reviews.

Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive culture.

About You

Proven HR generalist or HRBP experience in a commercial, fast-paced environment (ideally FMCG or similar).

Confident managing end-to-end recruitment and talent acquisition.

Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.

Commercially minded, proactive, and able to work independently.

CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) preferred.

Degree educated; Master’s desirable.
