Job Title: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant
Location: Sutton, London
Pay: Paid to scale
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm, Full time
Start Date: Monday 1st September

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team in Sutton, London. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and enthusiastic professional with a passion for supporting children with a range of learning difficulties to fulfil their potential within a mainstream educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide tailored support to students with SEND, including those on the autism spectrum, with ADHD, dyslexia, or physical disabilities.
• Work closely with the class teacher to differentiate instruction and materials to meet students' individual needs.
• Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
• Encourage social integration and help students develop emotional regulation and coping strategies.
• Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
• Support the development of students' literacy, numeracy, and life skills through one-to-one or small group intervention.
• Prepare the learning environment, ensuring accessibility and safety for all students.
• Promote a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere that fosters student wellbeing.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development related to SEND.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience working with children with SEND is essential.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is desirable.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
