Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior AV Technician to take ownership of AV services within a professional corporate environment in Birmingham. This is a largely standalone, client-facing role supporting meeting rooms, collaboration spaces and corporate events. You’ll be the main onsite AV contact, troubleshooting issues, supporting users and ensuring systems remain operational and ready for use, with plenty of autonomy to help improve the onsite AV service.

Key Responsibilities

AV Support, Meetings & Events
• Act as the main onsite contact for AV, meeting room technology and Unified Communications systems.
• Provide first and second line support across audio, video, presentation and collaboration technologies.
• Support Microsoft Teams Rooms, hybrid meetings, town halls, livestreams and corporate events.
• Prepare and test AV spaces ahead of important meetings and presentations.
• Assist users with connectivity, presentations and general AV requirements.
• Take ownership of technical issues through to resolution, escalating complex faults where required.
• Coordinate with internal teams, technical specialists and external suppliers as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, requests and completed work.

Service Ownership & Maintenance
• Take day-to-day ownership of the AV service across the Birmingham site.
• Prioritise support requests in line with business needs and keep stakeholders updated.
• Complete regular checks of meeting rooms, collaboration areas and event spaces.
• Ensure priority rooms are operational, prepared for use and maintained to a high standard.
• Proactively identify faults, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate remedial, engineering, project or event support when specialist resource is required.
• Maintain AV documentation, room information and operational records.

Customer Service & Compliance
• Build strong relationships with users and stakeholders across the organisation.
• Provide a professional, approachable and responsive technical service.
• Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users.
• Follow relevant Health & Safety, information security, cyber security and data protection procedures.
• Maintain safe working practices and follow established site standards.

Experience Required
• At least three years’ experience in corporate AV support or a similar professional environment.
• Strong experience with meeting room, collaboration and Unified Communications technologies.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms.
• Strong first and second line AV troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
• Experience supporting corporate meetings, presentations and events.
• Comfortable working independently in a client-facing role.
• Able to manage competing priorities and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Technical Knowledge
Candidates should have a good understanding of:
• Corporate meeting room AV systems
• Microsoft Teams Rooms
• Unified Communications and collaboration technology
• Audio and video systems
• Displays and presentation technology
• AV signal flow and troubleshooting
• Basic AV networking principles
• Hybrid meeting and conferencing technology
Experience with Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Cisco or similar professional AV platforms would be beneficial.

Desirable Experience
• CTS or other relevant AV industry certification.
• Previous experience in a managed AV service.
• Experience supporting hybrid events, livestreaming or corporate broadcasts.
• Experience as the primary or sole AV technician at a corporate site.
• Exposure to AV projects, upgrades or technology refresh programmes.

The Opportunity
This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced AV Technician looking for greater ownership and autonomy. You will be responsible for the onsite AV service while still having access to wider technical resources when specialist support is required. The role suits someone who enjoys hands-on AV support, customer service, meeting and event delivery, and proactive service improvement within a professional corporate environment.
