Senior Design Estimator – Fire & Security Systems
Location: Chorley
Salary: £38-£40k
Our Client
We are looking for an experienced Design Estimator with a strong background in the Fire & Security industry to join our clients growing team.
This is not a role for someone who simply prices jobs from a specification. We need a knowledgeable professional who understands fire and security systems inside out, can work independently, and has the confidence and technical ability to design complete solutions from concept through to quotation.
Whilst they are a small business, their projects are anything but small. You will be involved in a wide range of commercial and industrial projects, designing systems that meet client requirements, industry standards, and operational needs.
They are a forward-thinking company and can offer flexibility for full time or part time hours.
Key Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to design technically robust fire and security solutions, produce accurate and commercially viable estimates, and provide the expertise needed to ensure projects are specified correctly from the outset.
• Produce accurate and detailed estimates for fire and security projects.
• Design complete system solutions including:
o Fire Alarm Systems
o CCTV Systems
o Access Control Systems
o Intruder Alarm Systems
• Interpret client requirements, drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Create system designs, schematics, layouts, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare technical submissions and cost proposals.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, project managers, and engineers.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
What We're Looking For
Essential
• Proven experience as a Design Estimator within the Fire & Security industry.
• Strong understanding of fire detection, CCTV, access control, and intruder systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Ability to design both small and large-scale systems independently.
• Experience producing technical drawings and system layouts.
• Strong commercial awareness and estimating experience.
• Ability to interpret specifications and translate them into practical solutions.
• Self-motivated and capable of managing your own workload.
• Experience working on commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, or large multi-site projects.
Desirable
Experience with Simpro or similar project management software.
Knowledge of BS5839, NSI, SSAIB and other relevant industry standards.
Mentoring junior members of a team.
