SEND Teaching Assistant – Immediate & October Starts

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

A well-established specialist SEND school in St Helens is looking for caring and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their team on a long-term basis, with immediate and October start dates available.

The school supports pupils aged 4–14 with a wide range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome and complex learning and medical needs.

This is a varied role where you’ll work as part of a supportive specialist team and help pupils develop academically, socially and independently.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs
• Support pupils in the classroom and across the wider school environment
• Deliver learning activities and interventions under the guidance of teaching staff
• Encourage communication, emotional regulation, independence and social development
• Adapt activities and resources to support different learning needs
• Support pupils with sensory, physical and personal care needs where required
• Work alongside teachers, therapists and other specialist professionals
• Help create a safe, structured and inclusive environment
• Celebrate and support pupils' individual progress and achievements

Experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals in schools, SEN settings, care, childcare, youth work or similar environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
