Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Axminster, Devon
Salary: £90 per day
Contract Type: Full-time
Working Hours: 8.30 am to 3.30 pm

Job Description:
We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary school team in Axminster, Devon. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the inclusion and progress of pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to children with various educational needs, including behavioural, academic, social, and emotional challenges.
- Work closely with the class teacher to create an environment that promotes learning and is sensitive to the individual needs of the students.
- Implement individual education and behaviour management plans, contributing to the assessment and review of these plans.
- Facilitate inclusive learning experiences by adapting teaching materials and methods to suit the needs of each child.
- Assist with the preparation of the learning environment and resources, ensuring accessibility for all students.
- Act as a positive role model, fostering a nurturing and supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Support children's social and emotional development, encouraging positive interactions and self-esteem.
- Contribute to monitoring and recording progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
- Manage any challenging behaviour in line with school policies and strategies.
- Assist with personal care needs of students as necessary, while encouraging independence.
- Participate in school activities, outings and events, ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils at all times.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices and adhere to safeguarding guidelines and school policies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with SEND or a willingness to learn.
- An understanding of how to cater to the different needs of children and how to create inclusive learning experiences.
- Competence in managing challenging behaviours and employing effective de-escalation techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with teachers, parents, and professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and a resilient attitude towards the challenges of supporting children with additional needs.
- A relevant NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent, although not essential, would be advantageous.
- A commitment to ongoing personal development and training in SEND practices.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake this).
