Description
Location: Highbridge, Somerset
Pay: £92–£109 per day
Type: Full-time
Are you a resilient, confident and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference?
We are working with a large primary school in Highbridge that is going through an important period of development and improvement. The school has a diverse community and supports a significant number of pupils with additional needs and barriers to learning.
This is a role that will suit someone who is calm under pressure, consistent and confident managing challenging behaviour.
The role:
You will work alongside teachers and the wider support team to help pupils engage with learning, develop positive relationships and overcome barriers to their education.
The role may involve:
• Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional or social needs
• Working 1:1 or with small groups
• Helping pupils to regulate and re-engage with learning
• Supporting children with SEND and other barriers to learning
• Reinforcing clear boundaries and consistent expectations
• Building trusting relationships with pupils who may find school challenging
• Supporting pupils academically, socially and emotionally
The school has recently introduced new behaviour policies and procedures, with Ofsted reporting a significant improvement in behaviour over the past year. Pupils are increasingly responding to expectations and classrooms are now described as calm and conducive to learning.
We're looking for someone who:
• Has previous experience working with children or young people
• Is resilient and emotionally robust
• Has experience supporting challenging behaviour
• Can remain calm, patient and consistent when situations become difficult
• Is confident setting boundaries while maintaining positive relationships
• Understands that behaviour is often a form of communication
• Can work as part of a team and take direction from teaching staff
• Has a genuine commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning
Experience in a primary school, SEND setting, pastoral role, youth work or a similar environment would be highly beneficial.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced TA who enjoys a challenge and wants to work somewhere where their consistency, patience and relationship-building skills can have a real impact.
If you're looking for a role where no two days are the same and your work can genuinely change a child's experience of school, we'd love to hear from you.
