SEN Teaching Assistants – Immediate & October Starts

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

A welcoming and well-established specialist SEN school in the L32 area is looking for caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join their team. The school supports pupils across primary and secondary age groups, providing a varied environment where no two days are the same.

Pupils have a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

This is a great opportunity for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants, Support Workers and candidates from education, care, youth work, coaching or other relevant backgrounds.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual pupils
• Support pupils across classroom, practical and creative activities
• Help pupils develop communication, confidence and independence
• Support emotional regulation, sensory needs and personal care where required
• Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
• Encourage positive social interaction and engagement
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to support individual learning and development
• Adapt your approach to meet pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates with experience in:

• Schools, nurseries, childcare or education
• SEN or specialist education
• Youth work, mentoring or sports coaching
• Health and social care
• Residential or community support
• Supporting children or adults with additional needs

You should also be:

• Patient, compassionate and nurturing
• Calm and resilient when faced with challenging situations
• Adaptable and confident working with different needs and abilities
• A strong communicator and team player
• Passionate about supporting children and young people
• Committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Relevant personal experience can also be valuable, so don't hesitate to apply if you have supported someone with additional needs outside of a professional setting.
