Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Oldham, Lancashire
Contract: Full-Time
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Salary: £90 per day
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Oldham, Lancashire. The ideal candidate will have experience in dealing with challenging behaviours and be comfortable working with students across multiple year groups. This role will involve supporting students with Autism, including assistance during meltdowns, necessitating a patient and proactive individual who can remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support and group support to students with varying educational needs and behavioural challenges.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Autism.
- Use effective strategies to manage and reduce challenging behaviour in the classroom.
- Employ a variety of educational techniques for children with a wide range of abilities and needs.
- Facilitate communication between students with Autism and their peers, as well as with teaching staff.
- Monitor and support the safety and wellbeing of the students during school hours.
- Aid in the creation of a supportive and accessible learning environment.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive approach to education and student management.
- Keep accurate records and provide feedback on the students’ progress to teachers and parents as required.
- Adapt to working with students from different year groups, providing appropriate and differential assistance as needed.
Requirements:
- Must have a DBS on the update service.
- Proven experience dealing with challenging behaviour in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting students with Autism, especially during meltdowns.
- Capacity to be patient, proactive, and calm under pressure.
- Flexibility to work across multiple year groups within the school setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to the development and education of children.
- Desire to contribute positively to the inclusive ethos of the school.
