Learning & Development Coordinator
Contract: 3 month FTC (with potential to extend)
Based: Hemel Hempstead
Hybrid Working: 3 days office
Hours: 40 per week (open to less but salary will be pro-rata'd)

A proactive and highly organised Learning & Development Coordinator is required on a 3 month fixed-term contract to support a busy HR function. This opportunity is ideal for someone with HR experience—preferably within the construction or rail environment—who is passionate about supporting Learning & Development activity and ensuring workforce compliance.

About the Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will deliver an efficient and effective L&D administrative service. You’ll be responsible for coordinating training, maintaining records and matrices, and supporting compliance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Training & L&D Administration
Coordinate mandatory training (e.g., ICI, PTS, ECS/CSCS, Medical, D&A), including tracking expiries and booking renewals.
Process training requests promptly and issue joining instructions.
Maintain the Training Matrix, Competency Matrix, and Training Gap & Needs Analysis.
Produce monthly L&D reports.
Liaise with agencies to recover training costs where required.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry training requirements (e.g., Sentinel, JIB/ECS).
Promote engagement with the organisation’s E-learning platform.
Source, book, and organise training programmes and development activities.
Manage purchase orders and invoices relating to training.
Maintain the sponsorship list and issue Learning Agreements.
Update and manage the Training Cost Tracker.

IMS Administration
Upload training certificates and cards to the internal management system.
Create system profiles for new staff.
Sentinel Scheme Administration (Interim Cover)
Maintain records for sponsored employees.
Coordinate bookings for expiring competencies and ensure systems are updated.
Provide briefings for sponsored staff.
Arrange D&A testing in line with requirements.

Payroll & HR Support
Extract weekly timesheet reports, update payroll information, and investigate discrepancies.
Monitor working hours to ensure compliance with Working Time Regulations, JIB guidance, and HSE expectations.

About You
Minimum 2 years’ experience in HR, L&D, or Training administration.
Strong HR administrative background.
High attention to detail with a solution-focused approach.
Confident, clear communicator with strong organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Professional, discreet, and able to manage confidential information.
Strong IT skills and confidence working with management systems.

Desirable:
Experience in the construction or rail industry.
Understanding of Sentinel or JIB processes.
Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods.
Experience using e-learning platforms.
